Top Ten Tuesday- Bookworm Delights and Disasters!

Hello guys! I hope everyone has had a productive Tuesday and got to read a bit as April is almost over! To be honest it felt like April has been very long compared to the other months so far in the year. I still have three books on my TBR that I ‘have’ to read before the month is up which I might be able to do because I am still in a great reading mood, though I have no time to read!

That’s enough blabbering for now as it is Top Ten Tuesday. The theme for this week is Bookworm Delights which is a fantastic theme! I decided to put my own little touch on it and do disasters as well as delights because I don’t really want my post to be ten delights because a lot of disasters happen while I’m reading!

Without further ado- here is my top ten list!

TOP 5 DELIGHTS:

1) New Book Smell

I know this one is going to be on every post but I just had to put it on this list. NEW BOOK SMELL IS WHAT I LIVE FOR! It wears off after some time but that intial smell when you crack open a book is so satisfying and almost therapeutic. Granted, this leads to many weird looks from family and friends, but it’s totally worth it!

2) The OMG PLOT TWIST Feeling

We have all gotten that feeling a mixture of excitement, terror, surprise which all total to a OMG. I love this feeling and just good plot twists in general because they just turn the tone of the book completely, characters betray you, things that you thought was real weren’t. It’s just pure excitement and adrenaline which can really turn the book on it’s head.

3) Book Mail Days

You know those days. The days when you check your email and see that (Company name) has dispatched your book. Or better yet your book mail came early. This isn’t only delightful because BOOKS but also that realisation that you got another book, another world and you might love it or hate it, but it’s there! Wrapped up in your hands!

4) Release Day For A Book!

Release is such a delight to me! The buzz on twitter and on blogs is very contagious and seeing everyone else fangirling over a book makes me feel less weird hahaha. It’s a bit strange because 9/10 times I don’t have the book on that day, but just knowing it’s out there and that I can read it, is more then enough for me.

5) Finishing A Book And Releasing It’s Favourite

This delight happened to me after reading the Harry Potter series. Just that moment after finishing the last page and realising you love the series so much and want to read it over and over again. I have experienced this feeling for many books since I’ve joined the book blog community, the Red Rising series, A Monster Calls, Illuminae and the Throne of Glass series to name a few.  After experiencing this feeling, the book that you just finished becomes the book you recommend to everyone.

TOP 5 DISASTERS:

1) Chocolate Stain On A Page

Being a chocolate lover can be great and being a book lover can be great, but when you mix the too…let’s just say that the results can end up messy. It happens innocently – your just eating a bar of chocolate– but then ends with being angry at yourself –why can’t I be more careful! At the start I use to be really upset when it happened but now it happens so often it only causes mild annoyance.

2)  Your Book Falls (PRO LEVEL)

I’m not just simply talking about your book dropping from a table or on the side of your bed (both are really awful though), I mean your book dropping from the top of your wardrobe and it Mario-wall-to-wall acrobatics before it lands on the floor. And yes that has happened to me. I don’t mind the well loved look with my books (most of the time) but when your books just looks literally destroyed and you got it the day before- that’s a cause of concern.

3) Encountering Annoying Book Tropes In A Book

You know that moment when you realise the main protagonist gives a lenghy description of the love interest she met five minutes ago and it’s insta-love. It’s really hard for me to continue reading a book when that happens. The same goes for when I find out the love interest is a manic pixie girl or the main protagonist is in a love triangle that is poorly done. JUST NO.

4) When Book Mail Comes Late

THIS ONE IS DEFINIETLY FOR ME! If you have saw my twitter recently, you might have seen me expressing my peeved off-ness after Amazon delayed my preorder of The Rose and The Dagger. It’s so frustrating because you get mentally prepared for reading that book and it just doesn’t come. Nothing. Yep, that is really annoying!

5) Library Notices Coming Too Quickly!

This point is for all the bookworms who borrow books from the library regularly and have to deal with a nasty, horrible thing called library notices. For me this always happens when I, idiotically,  have borrowed like ten books and realise that you have to bring them back tomorrow or be fined. DARN THOSE LIBRARIES! This is why I have a love/hate relationship with them hahaha!

Those are my list of delights and disasters bookworms experience! Tell me down below if you can relate to any of them, or if you have one to add! Be sure to leave all of your TTT down below so that I can check them out as well!

I’ll write soon!

Getting new books in the mail really is such a good feeling, I feel like a child getting presents all the time, even if I bought them myself, haha. And the plot twist feeling, oh there’s nothing like it, even if it feels CRUEL at times, when reading some books!
And oh no, chocolate stains, this happened to me before, because well, chocolate…but I wanted to cry afterwards, hahaha.
    Great list!

Hahaha I know right? It’s kind of like Christmas but every week! Out of all of the different things you could get into like make-up or gaming I think being a bookworm is more expensive because books can be so cheap and so accessible hahaha XD
Books can literally kill my feelings because of the plot twists!
Whenever I do something to make the book less pristine I feel like crying so your not alone hahaha!

      Thank you!

OMG! I had this one book and it had this really slick cover and I swear it wanted to commit suicide. No matter what surface you put it on, it was determined to slip off of it! I was getting really worried for it, because I didn’t want it to get all dented and scratched :/

Oh I loved your list. I put book smell on mine because it’s one of the best things about books, and one way in which ereaders cannot compete! Also i by so much from Amazon that I completely agree with you, ym favourite days are days when parcels are dispatched and arrive and I have new books waiting for me at home. I pre-ordered a lot so in the next week I have a lot of books that should be arriving and I’m so excited!
I love how you split your list into two parts as well; I hate chocolate stains, or any food stains really, on my books, and oh god annoying tropes are the worst. I have a few I hate and I cannot stand it when I see them in books!
Great picks for this week 😀

Just the thought of having any sort of stain on my book makes me shiver. I had a huge freak out once over the tiniest drop of tea spilling on a book. It was traumatizing haha. 😛
Love triangles will always be the main trope that instantly turns me off the book. I literally have no patience for them.

Haha, getting chocolate stains on my books… yes, I may be a culprit! Eating chocolate and reading a book is all fun and games until the pages have marks on them 😦

Yaassss, new book smells are the bessstttt!! Haha, you totally got me with the chocolate stains (or stains in general) because I always tend to leave some type of “marking” on my books xD As for the Book Falls, I don’t know if it’s because my arms are weak or if I’m so into the book I forget I’m holding it above my face, BUT I tend to drop my book on my face from time to time… 😉

Chocolate stains and cookie crumbs are the worst! Not to mention that feeling of danger when you’re balancing your meal while reading and knowing if you slip even just a little bit, you’ll probably cry 😭

Wait how long do you get to keep a library book and what is a pingback? I may sound ignorant now but it’s just that where I’m from you can keep them up to 3 months and a minimum of 1. That’s why I love libraries! 😀 Totally agree that delayed book mail is the worst! I hate it.
