When Hype Kills A Book- Books That Hype Are KILLING

Hello guys! I told you that my presence on the old blogsphere will be a bit infrequent. I am dedicating the whole of today though to commenting and just being ACTIVE around all the blogs I follow.

But right now, I have a discussion post to share!

So we all know that hype is like poisoned honey. It’s fantastic and exciting and fun but also very very VERY deadly. Over the course of my young blogging life I have seen books rise with hype and die from the hype. I myself have read books that have been super hyped that I’ve seriously enjoyed, Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman being one of the books that bounce into my mind. But I’ve also been disappointed with many super hyped books as well like The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness being one of them.

Though today isn’t the day when I dissect ‘Hype’ and write the pros and cons. No, today is the day when I reveal my books I will not read soon because of hype list. I’m pretty sure everybody has that mental list of books that you are just avoiding because THAT HYPE BE TOO MUCH. And I can totally relate, though I’m going to share some of the books that I feel hype is killing at the moment.

Hello everyone! Sorry that this post is delayed by one day! I know one day doesn’t feel like a lot, but I am very particular about things and late posts are one of them! I can make it up to you though because I have LOADS to tell you!

img_8023-2

For anybody who don’t know, I’m Wittier In Writing is a post fortnightly meme created by me, Astra, so that I could share my trials and tribulations that might have happened over the past two weeks connected to my writings. Chapter 1: Suffocation, Frustration and Inspiration?

Chapter 2: Poems and Plagarism

Chapter 3: Fifteen Minuets of Not Procrastinating

Notes and Scribbles #3| This Is What Sorry Looks Like + A VIRAL HUG FOR OVER 300 FOLLOWERS!

Hey guys!

Wow it feels like forever since I’ve typed that! And it’s been an extroadinarily long time since I’ve written a Notes and Scribbles post! For any of you who don’t know, Notes and Scribbles is a series of posts that I make when I just need to inform you on blogging stuff. And BOY DO I NEED TO DO THIS.

Firstly, SORRY! LIKE A MASSIVE SORRY for not being active on WordPress for like a week!

tumblr_niqqweccp51smcbm7o1_250

I know a week for other people might not sound long, but to us bloggers we know that a week feels like forever! Especially if you blog almost everyday like myself. There are not many reasons for my absence other that from around Wednesday to Friday, I was getting seriously into my WIP. And I know that reason is kind of pathetic but hear me out. Since starting my WIP I’ve been feeling passionate about my WIP but it was on Wednesday, which I really got my rare bursts of energy to just write everything, from background of the Kingdoms I’m creating to back stories on my character which I have been keeping up in my head.

You’re probably wondering- ‘What about from Saturday to Monday’ and my reason is that my laptop got hijacked- by my sister. She has some really serious exams coming up for her and of course she needs to use a laptop for long periods of time to revise  and course it’s my laptop she uses. So whenever I’ve had the chance to get to a laptop it’s either been short 20 minuet spaces or I’ve been too tired to venture into the world of WordPress.

I have lucky grabbed the laptop for a few golden moments to right this post! My posts and my presences on the blogging scene might be irregular for a little while but I just know that I’m going to try my hardest to integrate myself back into some kind of routine. I have a book review, a delayed I’m Wittier In Writing post and a bunch of tags to post! I just hope I’ll get to post them all soon!

My reading has been REALLY SLOW. Not going to lie. I haven’t finished a book in like two weeks, bringing up my currently read this month tally to two books. I’m not upset really. I don’t think I’m in a reading slump, just that all of my energy has been targeted towards my writing. And I think I have finally mastered the Don’t Read, Don’t Care attitude. I’m not going to put pressure on myself to read if I just don’t feel like it. I think blogging will help with me wanting to read more, but if I don’t read more then three books by the end of this month (hopefully I’ll read more of course,) then I’ll be perfectly fine with that.

And now to the fun part.

Over the course of my absence, I reached over 300 followers! Is it only me that feels like they reach milestones when they aren’t that active on their blog at that time? It’s really weird. But anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

The period between me having 200 followers to me having 300 followers has been so much fun and I’m so happy that I’ve made some excellent new blog friends! So again a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who decided to click that follow button, like my post or comment. I really appreciate it, truly!

Again, I will try to catch up with post as much as I can and be as active as I can on WordPress! And THANK YOU 😀

I’ll write soon!

Top Ten Tuesday- Non-bookish Youtube Channels I Watch!

Hello guys and welcome to my Top Ten Tuesday post (oooh, see how formal I sound, I better add some capitals). ENGLAND IS BEING SO WEIRD AT THE MOMENT! Yesturday it was so sunny I was melting, now today it’s raining but it’s still warm so it STILL feels like I’m still melting! You can never win!

But enough of my whinging, this TTT topic is about non-bookish websites that you love and visit often. CONFESSION TIME: I don’t really visit a lot of websites. When it comes to surfing the internet my four main hubs are WordPress, Youtube, Twitter and Instagram. SO I decided to show you ten non-bookish youtube accounts that I am subscribed to. You’re going to see where my bad humour and weridness comes from.

On with the list!

My First Read-a-thon! -Bout of Books 2016

Hello guys! I hope your Monday is going great!

As you can tell by the title I am taking part in my first read-a-thon. I don’t know why I haven’t taken part in a read-a-thon before. Whenever I stumbled upon a read-a-thon it was too late or I just didn’t want the pressure of reading books. But today, I was looking at some posts about the Bout of Books  read-a-thon and I was thinking ‘what the heck! Let’s do it’

Review: The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

149030-ml-1070783

Title: The Dream Thieves

Author:  Maggie Stiefvater

My rating: 5/5

Goodreads rating: 4.27/5

Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal

Publisher:  Scholastic Press

Summary (Goodreads):

If you could steal things from dreams, what would you take?

Ronan Lynch has secrets. Some he keeps from others. Some he keeps from himself.

One secret: Ronan can bring things out of his dreams.

And sometimes he’s not the only one who wants those things.

Ronan is one of the raven boys—a group of friends, practically brothers, searching for a dead king named Glendower, who they think is hidden somewhere in the hills by their elite private school, Aglionby Academy. The path to Glendower has long lived as an undercurrent beneath town. But now, like Ronan’s secrets, it is beginning to rise to the surface—changing everything in its wake.

Intimidating TBR Book Tag!

Hello guys! I hope you are doing really well! Sorry for not posting yesturday and just being generally not on WordPress for the last couple of days. I’ve been working on my WIP after getting a sudden burst of inspiration and the will to write. It’s so unfair that if I focus too much on writing it hurts my blogging, but if I focus too much blogging my writing hurts. You can never win!

Anyway, I think it’s time I do a tag, because it feels like I haven’t did one in aaaaages. As you can tell by the title of the post I’m doing the intimidating TBR tag! I was tagged by the lovely Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews. Check out her blog because it’s amazing!

I was pretty sure I did this tag already, but apparently not so I’m excited as I’ve seen this tag everywhere!

Quick Reviews: How Hard Can Love Be?, The Moth and the Flame, The Crown and the Arrow

Hello guys! I’m introducing a new thing on the review aspect of my blog. I already have my normal reviews which are broken down into four parts- plot, writing, characters, what I liked/What could be improved. I have my informal reviews which are a lot shorter and I normally do these for graphic novels and short stories. And now I’m introducing quick  reviews. These reviews will short, sweet and simple! These reviews will be for books that I have not a lot of thoughts about, or for a collection of short stories. These won’t be too frequent, but I guess they will faster to read for you and faster to write for me!

Let’s get to the reviews then!

Top Ten Tuesday- Characters I Would Like To Read About Before/After Their Book!

WOAH long title I know!

Hey guys! I hope you are doing very well and you are getting a lot of reading done while the month is still young!

The theme for this weeks Top Ten Tuesday is very wide- Ten Childhood Characters You’d Love To Revisit As Adults (ie a novella or something to see what they grew up to be) — you could always just pick YA characters you’ve read recently you wouldn’t mind revisiting in 10 years or so. Or you could pick 10 characters and guess what you think they’d be doing in 10 years or 20 years. OR you could go the other way and wish for coming of age stories for adult characters you love.

SO there was lots I could do with this theme, but I decided to keep it simple and try to split it half and half, one half I would like to read about before their book and the other half  I would like to read as after their book. You might see characters from the same book in this post as well. The time frame might vary but I will state it in the explanations.

Let’s just get straight into the list then!
