The Harry Potter Tag!

Firstly, SORRY FOR NOT POSTING OVER THE WEEKEND AND MISSING OUT ON ALL OF YOUR POSTS! That wasn’t the plan but I basically had to do 24/7 revision over the weekend so there really wasn’t much time to write up a post and read your posts and to READ! Gosh it feels like I haven’t read IN AGES! I’m going to try and finish Prodigy tomorrow so that I can finally post a review soon.

ANYWAY! I HAVEN’T DID A TAG IN AGES! As you can tell by the title, I’ll be doing The Harry Potter Tag which is a lovely tag created by the even lovelier Trang and Lashaan @ Bookidote. A book you found the theme interesting, but you’d like to rewrite it.

Hmmm I’m going to say The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. I loved the Amsterdam setting and all of the juicy historical bits but a lot of the plot elements were just left unexplained which frustrated me slightly.

The first book in a series that got you hooked.

Any chance to gush about this book I’m going to exploit. So basically I’m talking about the bloody (literally) brilliant Red Rising by Pierce Brown of course!

A book you wish you could have right now.

YEP, THIS ISN’T A HARD QUESTION AT ALL! I’m going to go for a graphic novel, which is The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman because it’s been months since I read the first part which I borrowed from the library.

A killer book. Both senses. Take it as you like.

Hmmm I’m going to take it in the BLOODY HELL THAT BOOK WAS AMAZING sense. So I’m choosing a book which I recommend everyone to read, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Killer cast of characters, plot and action. Just loved it!

A book that you found really confusing.

There are not many stories I find confusing to be honest. But I’m going to name a book that confused me with the direction it was taking plot-wise and that book is Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I can see why a lot of people like it, but the turn of events throughout the novel confused me. A lot.

Your spirit animal book.

THIS IS SO HARD! I don’t know if I should go for a sweet contemporary or an immersive fantasy….I’m going to go for The Rest Of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness. Even though this book definietly isn’t a favourite, it was a nice blend of contemporary and more fantastical elements. And the main characters are just on the outside of the extraordinary circle, which describes a lot of us I think.

A Dark Twisted Book

A literally have nothing. NOTHING. I don’t read dark twisted books, though I am interested in many of them. So I’m going to go with a book which has a dark and twisted character and I’m going for Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins as it has the tyrannical President Coriolanus Snow!

A book that surprised you in a great way.

The first book that comes to mind is Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon. Though this book had it’s faults, but really did surprise me! It had some depth that I wasn’t expecting. And the characters were quite nice as well.
