Desert Island Book Tag!

I guess Sunday is just becoming my tag day!

Hey guys and happy Sunday! Today I am tackling the Desert Book Tag which I was tagged to do by the brilliant Grace @ Quirky and Perculiar. I think books are life anyway, so catergorising them into water, food and ect will be fun!

Onto the tag!
Water: A book that you found refreshingly different.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Novel by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

This book was so refreshingly awesome! I think Ari was such a great protagonist because he felt saw raw and intense. Also Ari and Dante’s families were so warm and supportive of their friendship.

Food: An essential book you can’t live without.

The Harry Potter Series

I think I should get another favourite book/series because this must be getting so repeitive for you lot. But I love HP and I can certainly say that my life would be different without it.

Weapons: A book that is massive and could be used a weapon.

The Complete First Edition: The Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm by  Jacob Grimm , Wilhelm Grimm,

Andrea Dezsö (Illustrator), Jack Zipes (Translator)

I got this book for Christmas because I thought it would be cool to have the original folk tales and fairy tales on my shelf. This book is a heavy one! But I would be reluctant to use it because of the illustrations.

Companion: A Book Characters That You Would Want To Be Stuck On A Desert Island With

Six of Crows- Kaz Brekker

Kaz would be able to hold himself good in this situation and he seems like he has trouble with killing so food wouldn’t be a problem. I bet he could be a laugh when he’s not being so intense.

Map: A book with an amazing map inside.

An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

This book has not one but two maps! And they are both beautiful! You can tell a lot of effort has been made to make them great.

Threat: A book you were afraid to read but ended up conquering.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I wasn’t really afraid of reading this book, just cautious about crying but I was right about being cautious because this book is so tragic and sad!

Compass: A book that you would give a new reader to get them interested in reading.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

This book is so lighthearted and fun, I think a new reader would enjoy this contemporary, fantasy clash! Not to mention it’s hilarious!

SOS: A book that is under hyped but you want everyone to read.

Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian

I love this middle grade historical fiction! I think most people have read this book, but I think it should get lots more hype to make sure over people read this book as well.

Rescued: A book you are anticipating to be released.

Foxlowe by Eleanor Wasserberg

I know there are loads of great YA book being released but I think this book should be hyped up a bit as well. I think this book is going to be magical realism but I’m not sure. But the summary sounds great so I’m sold.

The Emoji Book Tag!

A fun post today as I have a book tag to complete! This tag is really fun to read and I was thankfully tagged by Kat @ Life and Other Disasters! Her blog is amazing so check it out!

For this tag you basically pick out five emojis and then pick five books to fit each of the emojis. Simple!

Laughing Tear Face Emoji- Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I picked this book to go with the laughing emoji because there are so many funny moments especially between Baz and..well everyone because he is such an authentically honest character.

Whale Emoji- Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke

I think I remember Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much  daring me to use this emoji in this tag and I did! I few days ago I still would be kind of lost of what book to use for this emoji, but I recently purchased Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and gosh that book is humungous! Over 800 pages! You can say it’s a whale of a book…I’m bad at jokes.

Heart Emoji- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

A recent read here, but I had to add it because I fell in love with Austen’s prose. It was so much simpler than I thought it would be, but still very captivating.

Monkey See No Evil Emoji- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling

The trio in the last installment of the Harry Potter series put themselves into so many tight corners! Sometimes I had to look away for a minute and internally berate a character for doing something so life-threatening.

Party Emoji- Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

I picked the part emoji for this book because this once standalone contemporary is getting a sequel! I cannot wait to read it because this book was just beautiful!

Book Courtship Tag!

Hello guys, tiring day so I thought I would do a post that is easy enough- a book tag!

I was tagged by the amazing Breathing In The Pages blog, so check them out!

On with the tag!

Phase One-Initial Attraction: A Book That You Bought Because of the Cover?

Um well I haven’t bought this book yet but I am purely going by this book because of the cover (and the great reviews. The book is Wrath Of Dawn and I can not wait to get my hands on my book (if I ever get it)!

Phase Two-First Impressions: A Book That You Got Because of the Summary?

I haven’t read this book yet, but I’m going to soon, and it is To All The Boys I Loved Before by Jenny Han. I just love the premise that this girl’s love letters just go astray. This story is going to be a up and down adventure, I can feel it!

Phase Three-Sweet Talk: A Book With Great Writing?

Six Of Crows. Nuff said.

Phase Four-First Date: A First Book of a Series Which Made You Want to Pick Up the Rest of the Series?

I have already pre-ordered a hardback copy of Glass Sword aka the second book to the brilliant and page turning Red Queen!

Phase Five-Late Night Phone Calls: A Book That Kept You up All Night?

More Than This by Patrick Ness. I had to keep reading and reading and reading! It was that amazing!

Phase Six-Always on My Mind: A Book You Could Not Stop Thinking About?

I will pick a non fiction this time! The End Of Men and The Rise Of Women. It wasn’t the best read, but it still got me thinking.

Phase Seven-Getting Physical: A Book Which You Love the Way it Feels?

Definitely Fangirl. Every book should feel like that.

Phase Eight-Meeting the parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends?

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern..

Phase Nine-Thinking about the future: A book or series you know you will re read many times in the future?

Easy. Harry Potter.

Phase Ten-Share the love: Who do you tag?

I tag…

EVERYONE! (Because I’m feeling really lazy today)

I’ll write soon!

My Life In Books Tag!

Yes, yes another tag. I was suppose to post a review today, but I am so tired! NaNoWriMo is slowly sapping away my energy. I can feel it! Sorry for being dramatic 😛

Anyway, I am here doing the My Life In Books Tag and I was tagged by the lovely Becca @ Ghostystories. Remember to check out her blog which is really great!

Find a book for each of your initials

I am picking up for Astra Guild, All The Bright Places by Jenifer Niven and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

Count your age along your bookshelf. What book is it?

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell!

Pick a book that represents a destination you would like to travel to.

I’m picking a graphic novel set in Japan. I would really like to visit Japan when I’m older as it’s an awesome country with some a lot culture. So it is Town Of Evening Calm, Country Of Cherry Blossoms.

Pick a book that has your favourite colour/colours on the front cover.

I am going for the beautiful yellow cover of Fangirl which I never see ANYONE own.

What book do you have the fondest memories of?

There are too many! I know I use Harry Potter in my tags, but I just cannot not use Harry Potter for this one. I read and reread the series for the first time when I felt really isolated from everyone and it just really brought my confidence back up. I have a lot to thank Harry Potter for.

Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

I will use the Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring. I don’t know if I will ever finish this book, I just keep rereading it and only making it to like page 10 because I just get annoyed with the writing. Also, I don’t have any motivation to seriously read the whole trilogy.

What book on your TBR pile will give you the greatest sense of achievement?

Probably How To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Or Pride and Prejudice. Any classic actually!

Tagging time…

Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks

Your Future Book Tag!

Hey guys! I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday! I almost doozed off an hour ago because I’m so tired, but I got myself up and I am determined to post this tag today! So I was unofficially tagged to do this fun looking tag by the brilliant Kat at Life and Other Disasters. Remember to check out her blog because it’s great! Now onto the tag, I can’t wait to see how weird this is going to end up being.

Pick 5 books of your own choosing and then use 1 book to answer 2 of the given questions!

Five books…okay I chose these lovely ones from my disgustingly messy table…

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling

Throne Of Glass by Sarah. J. Mass

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

*Does a little prayer*

1. Open book 1 to a random page. Look at the first word on the page. If it’s less than 5 letters, you will go to college. If it’s more than 5 letters, you won’t go to college (The Young Elites)

Okay, lets see if I go college or not…..illusion, so I guess I’m not going college!

2. Open book 1 to a random page. The first name you see. Think of that persons job, that will be your job. Note: Is that person still in school? You will be a teacher. You don’t know that persons job? You will be unemployed

Teren. I have the job of rounding up malfettos and killing them at the stake…nice.

3. Open book 2 to a random page. The first name you see will be the person you will marry (The Night Circus)

There are many interesting people in this book, so lets hope, I get one of them! 1,2,3 go!…….Bailey! Not a Marco I guess, but Bailey is really sweet and he basically owns the circus now so I will be able to see the Circus everyday!

4. Open book 2 to a random page. The first name you see will be your best friend

Poppet! Yes! So I get to be married to Bailey and be best friends with one of the coolest girls in the circus. Though I could cause some tension, Bailey and Poppet kind of had a thing going on, I’m sure Poppet will be happy for me and then we could tour the Circus together as a trio (or quartet if you want to include Widget.

5. Open book 3 to a random page. Look at the second word on the page. Count how many letters that word has, remove 2 letters. That’s how many children you will have (HPatDH)

So,  *rubs hands* this should be awesome…four children! To be honest I always thought of having just two, but double the fun right?

6. How many children did you have? Open the book as many times to see who your children will be. If you have no children, open the book once. The first name you will see, will be something of your choice. A couple of examples: neighbor, father in law etc

So four children, four names.

Lily!  So I have a badass witch as a daughter! Yes and I could braid her gorgeous red hair and tell her to practice her spells everyday and take her to Diagon Alley to get her Hogwarts stuff for the first time!

Harry…inevitable I suppose, but still I have the chosen one as my second oldest son *sobs ugly*. Bailey and Harry are going to love each other.

Lunar Lovegood. Oh my gosh yes! I can finally be a weird with someone else who is weird. I can’t wait to bring up Lunar in the circus, imagine if she got into gymnastics and becomes a circus performer! I can imagine her living the muggle life! Bailey isn’t going into really understand her I can guess, but he will love her all the same.

Ron great another red head , so Lily won’t be alone! Sadly I’m going to Mrs Weasley him to death. He is going to be my baby son always and ever.

7. Book 4: Where does this book take place? This will be the place you will live! (Throne Of Glass)

The wonderful world of Throne Of Glass I see…this is so weird *sigh*. I will just have to keep my head down, wait maybe I can live in that magic forest that Celaena talks about at the start.

8. Open book 4 to a random place, the first name you see, does this person have a car, bike etc.? That will be your transportation in life. Note: teleporting, broom etc. is allowed. If your character had no means of transportation that you know of, you will be using public transportation.

Dorian yes! So that means royal carriages and lovely horses! Thank god, I thought I would have to be walking everywhere if I got Celaena.

9. Does this book have any animals in it? Pick your favorite animal, that will be your pet. No animals in the book? You will have no pet. (Little Women)

I don’t remember any of the women having animals, so no pets for me! I will have my beautiful horses to keep me company anyway.

10. Open book 5 to a random page. The first name you see will be your enemy!

Looks like Jo, the tomboy of the sister quartet, will be my enemy. I think we all know who is going to win if there was a battle between us though *cough* Official Royal Malfetto hunter over here *cough*.

I will not go to college, but I will still train to become a solider and then become the leader of the Inquisition Axis which means I will be hunting down malfettos before they destroy us all. But one lone farm boy will catch my eye. His name will be Bailey and he is obsessed with a circus and I slowly start to fall for his quirky ambitions and adventurous ways. He realises that he loves me after I kill a Malfetto who was trying to murder him. We marry (it’s a spectacular affair) and settle down with the Circus and it’s ever changing locations.

We both decide no pets (Bailey will say it’s because has had enough of animals after living on a farm), but we do want loads of children. Our first daughter will be named Lilly and she would of inherited magical abilities by me being with Bailey (who is now the heart of the circus) and spending many nights while I was pregnant by the magical fire. The next three children come in quick succession after Harry, Lunar and Ron and Bailey realises that there is a magical school that they could go to and all but Lunar go as she wants to surround herself with the peculiar people of the circus instead.

Poppet, Bailey’s childhood sweetheart, will soon get over her feelings over my husband and we will bond over our love for toffee popcorn and mutual hatred for Jo whose dangerous, tomboyish ways always tends to include one of her children. The Kingdom of Adarlan will throw many perils in my way (like a runaway assassin trying to rob me probably) , but with the Circus also moving I will not end up in any deep trouble. While the Circus normally moves by my technologically advanced ways, I will prefer riding my own beautiful horse, besides my son Harry who will seem to like Horses too. I will still try to kill any malfetto I come across.

I think I had too much fun on that last section! But it’s so cool writing your own fictional story with just five random books on your shelf.

I tag…

EVERYONE! Please do this tag if you are able to because it is SO much fun!

I’ll write soon!

Fall Time Cozy Time Book Tag!

Hey everyone! i was tagged by the lovely Victoria at Book Ember Reviews. Definitely check her out because her blog is really cute and well put together! (I’m sorry I forgot to mention you before!)

Now, Autumn is my favourite season because:

  1. It’s a season away from Christmas.
  2. I get to walk on crunching fallen leaves
  3. An excuse to wear jumpers everyday.
  4. Did I mention that it’s closer to Christmas?

Sadly the weather in England has been less cheerful. Fog, rain, wind, we got it all in a week! Thankfully I always have my books to escape to. Let’s get on with the tag before I side track too much!

Crunching Leaves: The world is full of color – choose a book that had reds/oranges/yellows on the cover.

I am going with Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix because it has all of the colours of fall and I remember reading this in the middle of November last year.

Cozy Sweater – It’s finally coll enough to don warm cozy clothing: what book gives you the warm fuzzies?

I’m choosing Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. Even though this wasn’t the best written book, it was light and heart warming at times.

Fall Storm: The wind is howling & the rain is pounding – choose your favorite book OR
genre that you like to read on a stormy day

Queen Of The Tearling! Definitely! The world is so complex and interesting, it would be lovely to lose yourself in it during a rainy day.

Cool Crisp Air: What’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

I know I shouldn’t really use the same book for these questions but I can’t think of any one cooler than Luna Lovegood.from Harry Potter.

Hot Apple Cider: What under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest,
hottest thing?

I’m behind on hyped up books so any books I would say are probably hyped up loads…maybe…the Miniaturist by Jessie Burton? It was a really nice book and a good read.

Coat, Scarves, and Mittens – The weather has turned cold & it’s time to cover up – What’s
the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

Envy by Elizabeth Miles. A random girl with shiny blonde hair isn’t the book to read in public if you want to look more professional.

Pumpkin Spice: What’s your favorite Fall time comforts food/foods?

I love soup in autumn and dumplings! My hot chocolate habit always walks in as soon as November starts as well. Marshmallows! Don’t forget them as well.

Warm, Cozy Bonfire: Spread the cozy warmth – Who do you tag?

The Pastry Book Tag!

Hello everyone! I am doing this deliciously wonderful tag! I was tagged by Trisha Ann from The Bookgasm and everyone should take a look at her blog!

I will try to do a review soon because it seems like I haven’t done one in ages, but I have to finish some books soon which I haven’t done yet.

Without further hassle here is the tag!

Croissant: Name a popular book or book series that everyone (including you) loves.

I really didn’t want to go for a completely obvious one, but I don’t really talk about this book series enough on this blog so….

Yes Harry Potter! I have not met a person that has read these books and thought it was rubbish. I would love to say this was the book series that launched me into reading but it wasn’t. However, it did make me realise how much I LOVE reading and I think that counts a ton!

Macaroon: Name book that was difficult to get through but worth it on the end.

Definitely The Book Thief.

The writing style was just so completely new to me I felt lost in a whirlwind of metaphors and personification. But even though I had an uphill battle with this book it was TOTALLY WORTH IT in the end.

Vol-Au-Vent: Name a book that you thought was going to be amazing but fell flat.

Oooh this is very hard! I will have to say Divergent.

The first book was a three stars at best and I didn’t really feel compelled to read the next book

Pain-Au-Chocolat: Name a book that you thought was going to be something but turned into something else.

This was another tricky question as well, but I am actual going to say a graphic novel and that Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms.

The cover is very misleading, at least for the first story anyway. At the end of the first book it turns a little darker which I wasn’t really expecting.

Profiterole: A book or series that doesn’t get enough attention.

The Fury Trilogy by Elizabeth Miles. Admittedly, I haven’t read this series in ages but still!

I really liked the mythological element in the story and the plot was very interesting  and engaging enough for read the three books.

Croquembouche:A book or series which is extremely complex.

It is actually a book that I am reading at the moment along with the 9th Girl which is Six Of Crows.

I am only a bunch of pages in and I am willing myself not to be confused! I kind of wished that I read The Grisha Trilogy first, but I’m sure that I will get a hang of the Grisha lingo soon.

Napoleon: Name a movie or TV series that you liked better than the book.

I have already answered The Hobbit to this question to another tag so I will answer Divergent again.

I liked the movie slightly more, but slightly more nonetheless.

Empanda: Name a book that was bittersweet.

Splintered by A.G. Howard.

I liked the book, but I didn’t love it. I am a completely sucker for Alice in Wonderland re-tellings ,but ONE character in particular wasn’t very likable and I wasn’t a fan of how the book ended. I am thinking of rereading it soon so I can decide if I want to read the rest of the trilogy.

Kolompeh: Name a book that takes place in a country other than your home country.

I could use a lot of books for this, but I decided on the Miniaturist by Jessie Burton.

This book takes place in Amsterdam, which is a place that I would love to visit. The setting is 1686 but even in the book Amsterdam seems like a chill place.

Pate A Choux: Name a food from a book or series you would like to try.

Any sweets that is mentioned in the Harry Potter series firstly!

But if I had to pick just one sweet, it would have to be Beanie Bots Every Flavour Jelly Beans. I am pretty sure that you can buy these already, but I haven’t tried them yet and it seems like a fun thing to eat with all of your friends.

The tag is all done and without me becoming a total sugar craving wreck!

Liebester Award

Hello hello hello everyone! How is life treating ya?

Another day, another award. I am really shocked that I am doing another award post and this time I was nominated by the talented Alicia from The Cyborg Knight. Thanks! Without further ado here are the rules.

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you with a link back to his/her blog.
  • Answer the 10 questions asked by the nominator.
  • Nominated bloggers (preferably with under 500 followers).
  • Create 10 questions for the nominees to answer.

Questions asked by Alicia:

  1. What got you to start blogging?

Booktube got me blogging. It was just a normal Sunday evening and I stumbled upon Regan and her channel PeruseProject. It looked really fun so I started I blog because I’m a bit too camera shy to be on YouTube!

2) Early bird or night owl?

I’m a bit of both actually. During the summer I love waking up early because the sky is so pretty. But I also love my late night YouTube sessions as well. And if I’m reading a good book, every night is a late night.

3) Would you rather be able to visit 100 years in the past or 100 years in the future.

I don’t think it was that great being a black girl in the middle of World War 1 so 100 years into the future! Imagine how advance segways would be!

4) If you could break one law with impunity what would it be?

To Murder some one. Jokes (not really). Um that you have to come school everyday. I don’t always feel like getting up at 6:30 am.

5) Do you like to cook?

I love to cook! If I could cook for the rest of my life I would. Baking is my specialty though- I think Great British bake off does that to you.

6) What books series is most important for you to introduce to your future kids/nieces or nephews?

Harry Potter. No reason needed.

7) If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

To think of food and for it to appear in front of me immediately. I know I just said I life to cook, but sometimes I just want to sit down and write, not make Spagbol.

8)What cartoon character do you identify with?

Umm can I skip this question? I haven’t watched cartoons in ages!

Can I say Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls?

She seems like a real girly girl and that’s me when I want to be.

9) What character in a book would you like to sucker punch in the face?

The character that just suddenly springs to mind is Peter Pettigrew from the Harry Potter series. I think everyone knows my reason why.

10) What is the book that you are most embarrassed to have never read?

Any Jane Austen book or How To Kill  A Mockingbird. They just all seem like classics that everybody has read or something. I mean I saw a book about a Jane Austen bookclub the other day. That’s how much I’m missing out.

And those are the questions done!

The bloggers  I’m nominating are…

Books With Chemistry

Rachael Reads

The Geeky Auror

Behind On Books

The Galaxial Word

These are my ten questions!

  1. Favourite TV show as a child?
  2. Introvert or Extrovert?
  3. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life what would it be?
  4. Do you like snow?
  5. Fiction or Non fiction?
  6. Would you rather buy ten books that your think are okay or buy one book you’ve been dying to read since you were younger?
  7. What is a fictional place you would want to visit.
  8. Do you listen to music while you read?
  9. Describe to me your ideal reading spot. (Not really a question but oh well)
  10. Are you in a popular fandom?

I hope those questions are good enough for you all.

I’ll write soon 🙂

The Infinity Dream Award

I didn’t feel like reviewing today (I just started Carry On and I am loving it! I should be finished with it by Wednesday), so I am doing a tag instead! I got tagged by the all amazing Trisha Ann from The Bookgasm and all of you should definitely check her blog out!

So the rules of the tag are:

-You give 11 facts about yourself.

-You answer 11 questions.

Simple right? So lets do this tag!

  • I love baths! I just love the time that comes with having a bath- you can reflect on your day and think through your problems. I will a bath over a shower any day!
  • I am currently top in my Biology class.
  • Cartoon Network was my life as young child! The nostalgia kills me!
  • I haven’t read to Kill A Mocking Bird YET!
  • I have a big Winnie the Pooh teddy bear at the bottom of my bed.
  • Yogurt is love, Yogurt is life.
  • I love snow.
  • I suck at math.
  • Shakespearean English goes completely over my head.
  • I have a potty mouth- it’s a huge problem!
  • Long bus/car journeys are the best journeys EVER!- I seriously live for them.

1. What is always guaranteed to make you laugh?

A TV show called Have I Got News For You and it comes on BBC 1. I takes the piss out of politicians and politics in general. When that show is on, you are always guaranteed a laugh from me!

2. If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you bring with you?

A book, a winter coat and a tent. Oh, but not any tent- a magical tent, like the ones in Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire. I’m pretty sure that Mr Weasley would be happy enough to lend me his. I mean you basically have a whole house, with water and shelter!

3. How did you meet your best friend?

School. No where special, sorry!

4. Where is your favourite place to go in your home town?

Maybe my local library, because I can read while looking out on to the city. And it’s only five minutes away from my house!

5. Do you have any piercings/tattoos? If so, where/what/how many?

I have the standard eye piercings, but no tattoos. I would love to have one either on my wrist of upper arm. Or even on my ankle with something in Japanese.

6. Where’s the coolest place you’ve ever visited?

Well, I’ve been Disney Land which was magical. I wish I was older so I can recall more memories from my trip.

7. Through blogging, what’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?

Commenting. Commenting on other people’s posts is a little scary at first because I didn’t want to screw up my first comment and I did by not adding a letter on a word! But now it is more fun commenting on people’s posts and interacting with other bloggers.

8. Who is your favourite superhero?

I don’t have a favourite fictional superhero, but my favourite superhero overall has to be my dad. He can kick some butt if he has too!

9. What was the last bad book you read?

I tried reading Twilight a few weeks back and….it just was not working out for me.

10. What was the last 5-star rating you gave?

The Book Thief! I absolutely loved that book with all of my heart (and tears!)

11. What do you never leave the house without?

PHONE, purse, my eos lip balm and a tissue!

Me with my phone
