Hey everyone! I hope your Saturday was great! I just thought I should share more of my reading habits with you because I don’t think I talk about them a lot. Remember all opinions are mine!
If you have check my Currently Reading post recently, you would of seen that I am reading crime fiction triller The 9th Girl by Tami Hoag.
Now I am do not find crime novels that interesting which is why this book is a huge rarity for me. I think I don’t pick up crime/ thriller a lot because it is too real for me and I read books to escape my reality, not read about something that could easily happen next month.
Another genre I do not pick up is paranormal. The exception has to be the Unearthly series by Cynthia hand (which is my Fortnightly Recommend) because I loved how Angels and the Angel world were explained and the plot was super intriguing. Other than that I just see the same old thing happening with many paranormal novels which just bore me.
Sci-fi is was an absolute no no, but I am slowly edging my way into the sci-fi circle. When I was younger it was drilled into me that sci-fi was a boys genre which definitely affected the way I viewed the stories in that genre. Now I realise that many stories I like have some scientific element to it!
Lastly, I swear I do not read enough horror! It’s really a shame because I love getting scared (even though after that means not sleeping at night). I am thinking of reading Dorothy Must Did, so if you have any thoughts on that book please share them!
And those are the major genres I don’t read a lot of. I know there must be great novels within those genres so if you have any recommendations for Crime/thriller, paranormal, Sci-Fi and horror please comment below because I don’t always want to read Fantasy and Contemporary!
I’ll write soon!

I don’t know if you’ve maybe already read it, but I can only recommend The Martian by Andy Weir. It’s a Sci-fi story and was my favourite summer read this year!
I’m not a big reader of Thrillers and Crime myself, but you could always read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn if you want something twisted.

Oh I actually wanted to read The Martian this month, but I think it’s going to go on my November TBR pile. I’ve heard a lot of great things about that book, so I’ll be looking forward to it. And Gone Girl! Also I have been seeing another book as well called Girl On The Train I think and I’m pretty sure that’s a Gone Girlish book as well, so I will have to think about getting that book as well. Thank you for reminding me about those books 🙂

That’s so weird, from the three genres you mentioned here that you don’t read often, two of them are actually one of my favourite genres! I guess it really shows how different people have various different preferences on reading 🙂

Really? Hahaha yes I guess since immersing myself in the world of books again has made me realised that not everybody needs to or has the same preferences to you. It makes conversations interesting I believe 🙂

True! And just because we don’t have similar taste in books doesn’t mean we can’t talk or anything… After all we all love reading, no matter what kind of book!

A quick sci-fi series (I use that word loosely as it’s 2 books) I enjoyed was The Korsak Brothers, which includes Chimera and Basilisk, by Rob Thurman. I’m not a huge sci-fi reader either, but I greatly enjoyed these books (I actually have some of her other novels sitting on my to-read pile now because of these novels).

The Korsak brothers? I actually haven’t heard of that series before but it’s usually the books that I haven’t heard of that turn out to be the best. I’m going to goodreads them now 🙂
